First Wave of New Sexual Abuse Lawsuits Filed Against San Diego Catholic Diocese

CBS News 8. January 2, 2019 -- The first wave of hundreds of new lawsuits was filed today against the San Diego Catholic Diocese on behalf of victims of sexual abuse by priests when they were children in local parishes. The Zalkin Law Firm is representing these survivors who were previously prevented from filing lawsuits by California's old statute of limitations law.

Effective January 2nd, California's new statute of limitations law, AB 218, now has a three-year window for older victims to file civil lawsuits against institutions responsible for their abuse. Attorney Irwin Zalkin announces these new cases with several of his clients at a news conference on Thursday.
