Law Firm to File Hundreds of Sexual Abuse Lawsuits Against Catholic Diocese

Fox 5 News. January 2, 2020 -- The Zalkin Law Firm announced today that it will be filing at least 165 new civil lawsuits on behalf of victims of childhood sexual abuse by priests from the San Diego Catholic Diocese and other Catholic Dioceses around California. The new lawsuits will be filed in the coming weeks on behalf of victims who could not previously file lawsuits under California's statute of limitations requirements. Those limitations have been changed by a new law, AB 218, which now allows older victims of childhood sexual abuse to file civil claims.

Attorneys Irwin Zalkin and Devin Storey will be representing the victims in these lawsuits.  Irwin Zalkin explained the new law and cautioned other victims about the Victims Compensation fund offers that the Catholic Church is making which he says are far less than what a fair court settlement would be.
